Following on from the David Lynch Suite, famous Brazilian designers Campana Brothers have taken their turn in storming one of the most prestigious venues in Saint-Germain-des-Prés and making headlines with their “Signature Suite” at the Lutetia Hotel.
Fernando Campana and Humberto Campana teamed up in 1983 and proceeded to create unusual stylings using materials and techniques that are seldom seen in the world of design. From their Sao Paulo workshop, Fernando and Humberto Campana concocted an off-the-street design, where Arte Povera meets industrial design production, favouring mostly salvaged items for their materials. Brazilian culture is their main source of inspiration: its wide range of influences, social diversity, craftsmanship and parsimonious use of means. In a few short years, they have become the undisputed ambassadors of Brazilian design.
The Campana Brothers’ intent was to create a contemporary suite within a classical setting, based on brown and green hues within a cosy atmosphere. The 4-star hotel’s own furniture was customised so as to achieve this palette of colours. In order to provide this luxury suite with a seal of modernity and an original design, the floor is covered with unusual wall-to-wall carpeting that also covers part of the walls, revealing a headboard in the process. The end result is elegant and refined, unquestionably bringing a Brazilian touch into the heart of the Left Bank, an entirely unique world in Paris..
