The Orsay Museum was opened in 1986 to present collections concentrating on European art from 1848 to 1914. The Orsay Museum's permanent exhibits include paintings by famous Impressionists such as Monet, Manet, Cézanne, Renoir, Degas and Courbet.
» Schedule of exhibits at the Orsay Museum
The auditorium in the Orsay Museum hosts musical, cinema or theatre presentations on themes inspired by the Impressionist movement. Workshops and lecture tours are regularly held for young people.
Formerly a train station, the Orsay Museum offers a vast, open space that serves to highlight works of art from various fields: sculpture, painting, furniture and photography. The building, classified as an historic monument, is an example of architecture from the Second Empire and by itself is well worth a visit.
To get to the Orsay Museum, you go up Boulevard Raspail toward the Seine river. The museum is located approximately 1 kilometre from our 4-star hotel and is serviced by, among other things, a metro station with the same name.
